Van Bergen Kolpa Architects
Van Bergen Kolpa Architects is an architecture firm founded in 2000 by Jago van Bergen and Evert Kolpa, based in Rotherdam, the Netherlands. The firm designs architecture for food, works internationally, and focuses on clients, stakeholders, and innovators who aspire to create sustainable buildings and cities, both now and in the future. The core of their methodology is the creation of a circular balance between the program, the urban landscape, and natural resources. Van Bergen Kolpa collaborates with multidisciplinary teams of experts on construction projects and urban planning schemes such as Vertical Farm in Hengshui, China; Metropolitan Food Valley in Beijing; the Foodexpo building in Doha, Qatar; and Greenport, West Holland.
The firm's projects have been exhibited and featured worldwide, including at the São Paulo Architecture Biennial and on CNN's World News channel. In recent years, the practice has received several awards and nominations, including the Rome Prize, the Charlotte Khler Prize, the World Architecture Prize and the Hedy d'Ancona Prize.
