Today marks the opening of the second edition of Arts Libris, a festival that will take place at Arts Santa Mònica and run until Sunday April 17th. The festival is the result of the effort put forth by Raíña Lupa Produccions and Fundació Comunicació Gràfica, in collaboration with Arts Santa Mònica and is co-directed by Rocío Santacruz and Óscar Guayabero, a regular collaborator at the DHUB.
Arts Libris is not concerned with the literary content of books but rather with their design, production, and the elaboration of its physical supports that bind them. This is a festival that is based in art, in design, in framing, in the type of paper, the cover, the illustration and everything that has to do with the book as seen as object. During the next four days, Arts Santa Mònica is a meeting place for publishers, artists and anyone interested in the field of design.
Within the programmed activities, there will be round tables, conferences, workshops and other activities. Conference topics will include; Louise Bourgeouis, a discussion about the latest talents to emerge from the schools of Barcelona, how to make a public collection of art and design books and include a presentation by Teresa Bastardes, the director of collections at the Disseny Hub Barcelona . Two exhibitions are also programmed for the festival, one about Louise Bourgeois and the other about the Camberwell College of Arts.
The opening takes place today at 6 p.m. and the festival runs until Sunday the 17th at Arts Santa Mònica. Free entry. Limited admission.
