Gor Gómez
Álvaro Gor Gómez is an architect, having graduated from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Granada (ETSAG). He also holds a distinguished academic background from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Granada and the ETSA Madrid (Technical University of Madrid). He is currently a doctoral candidate at ETSA Granada. From his student days, he demonstrated a strong commitment to innovation and design, participating in competitions alongside the renowned architect Carlos Ferrater and winning first prize in the competition for the Granada Science Park. His Master's thesis, "Industry + Housing," supervised by Juan Domingo Santos, was selected as one of the best final-year projects at ETSAG and was a finalist in the prestigious Pasajes-Iguzzini national competition, establishing his profile as a nationally recognized architect and interior designer from an early age.
Álvaro Gor currently works in his own architecture studio on projects related to housing, public spaces, culture, and heritage rehabilitation. His work has been awarded prizes in prestigious competitions such as Europan, FAD, Arquia, and BEAU, and has been published in specialized media outlets such as Arquitectura Viva, AV, On Diseño, Tectónica, and El País. Álvaro has participated in international exhibitions such as "Arquitectura Dispuesta: Preposiciones Cotidianas" (Shanghai, 2017), the 6th and 7th COAGranada Awards, and "Vernacular. Diálogos entre micropolitics del paisaje" (Granada, 2021). His teaching career is also noteworthy: he has given lectures as a visiting professor at prestigious universities such as Málaga, Cagliari, and Granada, and since 2018 he has been a professor of Housing Projects at the Higher School of Art and Design of Andalusia (ESADA), where he combines his professional experience as an architect with the training of new generations of designers.
Among the numerous awards and distinctions he has received are the 7th COAGranada Awards 2023 (Casa Duquesa, García de Paredes Prize), the 15th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism 2021 (Casa Calixto), the 2019 FAD Awards (Architecture Studio and Urban Garden), the 6th COAGranada Awards 2018 (Corral y Patio), Arquia/Próxima 2016 (Corral y Patio, Casa de la Abuela, Gran Vía 14), Europan 13 Barcelona, the Montemor-o-Novo Site Museum International Competition (First Prize), and the Granada Science Park Competition (First Prize).
