Orizzontale is a collective of architects based in Rome, founded in 2010 and composed of: Jacopo Ammendola, Juan López Cano, Giuseppe Grant, Margherita Manfra, Nasrin Mohiti Asli, Roberto Pantaleoni and Stefano Ragazzo.
Orizzontale develops architecture, landscaping, public art and self-construction projects. It has built and developed projects in Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Ukraine, Portugal, and Holland. “8 ½”, the mobile theatre built by Orizzontale in 2014, was the winner of the Young Architects Program (“YAP MAXXI 2014”) international award organized by the MAXXI Museum and MoMA PS1.
In 2016 Orizzontale won the contest for the regeneration of the European Community Square in Aprilia, organized by MiBACT and CNAPPC. The project was awarded the INU Prize for Urbanism in 2020. In 2018 at the Biennale di Venezia Orizzontale it received the “Young Talent of Italian Architecture 2018” award from the CNAPPC, which rewards the best Italian studio under 35 years of age. In 2021 he was invited to participate in the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale at the Italian Pavilion.
