“Aline” de Christophe, is a music video directed by Wes Anderson, sung by Jarvis Cocker as Tip Top and illustrated by Javi Aznarez, that presents THE FRENCH DISPATCH film, a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American fictional newspaper in an also fictional 20th-century French city, which brings to life a collection of stories published in “The French Dispatch” magazine.

It stars Benicio del Toro, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux, Owen Wilson, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park and Bill Murray.

The video is a companion to the film telling how faced with the impending dissolution of The French Dispatch, old-school editor-in-chief Arthur Howitzer Jr. assembles the crème de la crème of the magazine's loyal expatriate journalists for one final issue, against the backdrop of the fictional city Ennui-sur-Blasé, Paris, France, three main articles unfold, pivoting around tormented genius artists, statuesque prison officers, flamboyant critics, moody idealists, conflicted ace reporters, legendary chefs, and, of course, the police.

The song is a fresh version of Christophe’s 1966 French tune. The album is a tribute to French pop music featuring popular songs by artists like Françoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, and Jacques Dutronc.

Lyrics.-

J'avais dessiné
Sur le sable
Son doux visage
Qui me souriait

Puis, il a plu
Sur cette plage
Et dans cet orage
Elle a disparu

Et j'ai crié, crié
Aline, pour qu'elle revienne
Et j'ai pleuré, pleuré
Oh, j'avais trop de peine

Je me suis assis
Auprès de son âme
Mais la belle dame
S'était enfuie

Je l'ai cherchée
Sans plus y croire
Et sans un espoir
Pour me guider

Et j'ai crié, crié
Aline pour qu'elle revienne
Et j'ai pleuré, pleuré
Oh, j'avais trop de peine

Je n'ai gardé
Que ce doux visage
Comme une épave
Sur le sable mouillé

Et j'ai crié, crié
Aline, pour qu'elle revienne
Et j'ai pleuré, pleuré
Oh, j'avais trop de peine

Ah et j'ai crié, crié
Aline, pour qu'elle revienne
Et j'ai pleuré, oh pleuré
Oh, j'avais trop de peine

Et j'ai crié
Aline, Aline
Et j'ai crié
Aline, Aline, Aline

Aline
