This position is responsible for establishing an innovative program that articulates the Whitney Museum’s unique identity as the artist’s museum and furthers the Museum’s mission of bringing artists and the public together. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a deep knowledge of contemporary art and a familiarity with both emerging and established artists, writers, public intellectuals, and other key voices in contemporary art, politics, and culture.
Responsibilities:
Requirements.- M.A. with a background in art history or related field, and deep knowledge of contemporary art and artists; five+ years of experience producing public events or museum programs; demonstrated creativity in developing programs that engage a broad public; strong research, writing, and communication skills; flexible and collaborative personality; excellent public speaking skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; supervisory experience; budgeting, billing, and record keeping experience; computer and database proficiency required. MS Office; ability to work evening hours for events and some weekends required.
