On August 29th, an open meeting was held in Rosario, Argentina, between OHACHE and Cohabitar Urbano, associations holding Open House licenses in Rosario and Buenos Aires, respectively. The reason for the celebration: the presentation of the book "Open House Buenos Aires 10 Years," a publication commemorating ten years of an initiative that opens the doors of the city and allows us to experience and see it differently.

Through an open conversation between members of the organization and the public, the meeting provided an insight into the history of both experiences, the lessons learned, and the challenges shared, reflecting on how these types of initiatives have transformed the way visitors, hosts, and volunteers experience our cities.

The publication, produced by the Cohabitar Urbano team, brings together over 300 architectural works that have been part of the festival's first 10 years. Through a catalogue that showcases the various buildings and spaces open to the public, the book aims to bring the vast cultural and architectural heritage closer to all citizens, both those directly connected to architecture and urban planning and those who are not.

Ten years of experience were sufficient reason to compile the collective record created during the different editions. By highlighting and highlighting the historical, present, and future architectural heritage of the city of Buenos Aires, "Open House Buenos Aires 10 Years" demonstrates that architecture takes on true meaning when it is shared.

Description by Cohabitar Urbano

In this publication, we want to capture the various architectural works that participated in Open House Buenos Aires during the festival's first 10 years. It represents an opportunity to showcase some of the many reasons why a particular building or architectural space was invited to participate. It is important for us to ensure that citizens understand these architectural and urban spaces and thus reflect on how to build a better city.

Generating a comprehensive catalog that showcases the 350 architectural examples that were visited by more than 270,000 visitors over the course of a decade is of great cultural interest to us. This book will attempt to reflect the diversity and complexity of our city, thereby bringing architecture and urban planning closer to all interested parties—both those directly connected to architecture and urban planning and those who are not.

Making the 350 works visible and bringing them together in a monographic book, firsthand, as inhabited by their hosts and affected by the passage of time, will allow us to understand, reflect, and propose a better city and architecture every day.

We find it essential to compile, record, and thus reflect on all the collective knowledge generated over these 10 years through the Open House Buenos Aires platform. This knowledge is built by this network of hosts, professionals, volunteers, and visitors who, through a very simple concept—that of having a personal, experiential experience—have the opportunity to explore various remarkable private spaces.

This is why we are convinced that Open House allows us to learn, value, and redefine the historical, present, and future architectural heritage of our city of Buenos Aires.

Cohabitar Urbano is a civil association founded by Santiago Chibán, María Elisa Rocca, Ricardo Pomphile, Ignacio Queraltó, Georgina Gabrielli, Cecilia Loza, and Isabel Rocca in the city of Buenos Aires.

It is a collective created with the purpose of fostering the creative connection between the city, architecture, and its people.
