En 2016 la cantante danesa Agnes Obel lanzó el álbum "Citizen of Glass", al que pertenece la canción "Familiar", que escribió, grabó y produjo ella misma.
Las canciones de todo el álbum exploran el concepto de "ciudadano de vidrio", descrito por la artista como una indagación personal de la fragilidad y transparencia del ser humano en los tiempos en que vivimos, de manera que en nuestra identidad y nuestra forma de relacionarnos siempre está presente la transparencia, como si estuviéramos hechos de vidrio.

La canción de Agnes Obel sigue la temática del álbum desde la perspectiva de la personalidad, manifestando que es falsa la idea de que nuestra personalidad es fija, y que cambia dependiendo del contexto. Esta idea la expresa mediante el uso de dos tonalidades diferentes de su misma voz, una natural y otra modulada mucho más grave, creando un fantasma que canta con ella.
El videoclip de "Familiar" posee una estética futurista creada gracias a una pantalla LED que va mostrando imágenes distorsionadas, evidenciando la presencia de ese ente espectral. De esta manera, podemos ver escenas urbanas mezcladas con figuras fantasmagóricas o engranajes de una maquinaria. La canción, además, es conocida por aparecer en la serie "Dark".
