Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val. Urban Architect (1979) and Doctor of Architecture (1983) with Extraordinary Awards from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Fulbright Scholar and Master of Science in Architecture & Building Design from Columbia University, he has served as Associate Professor at the School of Architecture of Madrid and has received the Jorge Montes Award (2009) and the Luis Barragán Award (2011). Visiting Professor at Spanish, European, and American universities, he is currently Full Professor of Architectural Projects, and has served as Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Applied Creativity and Director of the School of Architecture at the University of Navarra.
Rufino J. Hernández Minguillón. Urban Architect (1982) and Doctor of Architecture (1991) from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Researcher on “New Techniques in Lightweight Construction” at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1988), Master in Building and Specialist in Building Systems, Organization and Construction Technology (1993). Adjunct Professor (ETSAUN) and Associate Professor of Construction at the School of Architecture of San Sebastián, University of the Basque Country. He has been Deputy Director of the “Master in Building” program (1991–96) and Editor-in-Chief of the Revista de Edificación – RE of ETSAUN, Pamplona (1995–01). Researcher in the fields of lightweight and responsive active enclosures, industrialized construction, and thermo-energy performance of building envelopes; collaborator for the CSCAE in the development of the Spanish Building Code (CTE), in the areas of safety and habitability.
Their works have been finalists for the COAVN Awards, VI BEAU, Spanish Architects Exhibition, Veteco, Murcia, FAD, Construmat, and Saloni; and awarded the SEDIGAS Award 2002, PAD Award 2003, APCE Award 2005, COAVN Award 2007, and NaN Awards 2009 and 2011. Their recent work has been compiled in a monograph, exhibited at the Venice Biennale (2008 and 2012) and featured in various international publications, as well as in the guides Arquitectura de España 1929/1996, Arquitectura Española 1920/2000, GAN SXX, and the Phaidon World Atlas of Architecture.
