Vasco Mourão was born in Tomar, Portugal, in 1979. Also known as Mister Mourão, he is a Portuguese architect, illustrator, and visual artist. After training and working in architecture, he gradually shifted his career towards drawing and the visual arts. His work is distinguished by highly detailed urban compositions, created mainly in black ink, in which he combines real and imaginary buildings, impossible perspectives, and intricately layered structures. He works on a wide range of surfaces, including paper, wood, stone, metal, and walls.
Mourão has produced illustrations and commissioned work for internationally renowned publications and companies such as The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and Apple. His work has been exhibited across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Japan. He currently divides his time and artistic practice between Barcelona and the Portuguese island of Pico.
