PAT. is a Turin-based architectural firm founded in 1991 by Andrea Veglia, Jacopo Testa and Benedetta Veglia. This award-winning architectural firm promotes a holistic design approach to conceiving sustainable buildings, based on the efficient use of materials and energy resources. Its goal is to create inspiring buildings whose structure, envelope, and systems work together, offering the user physical and mental well-being while reducing energy consumption, maintenance, and construction costs.
For over twenty years, they have been promoting the application of the life-cycle approach as a path toward decarbonizing the built environment.
At PAT, they firmly believe that well-being is profoundly affected by the space we inhabit. From this concept emerges their mission: to improve the quality of life through architecture.
Regardless of the scale of the project, their work is based on a deep understanding of their clients' needs. They aim to meet these needs, adding the additional benefits of good design.
To meet these expectations, they form a dedicated, integrated design team for each project, involving all specialist engineers from the initial brainstorming meeting to incorporate as many inputs as possible in the initial design phase.
Over the years, they have developed close ties with selected engineers and consultants, collaborating on projects both at home and abroad.
In their pursuit of sustainability in each project, they developed €CO, a tool for performing environmental lifecycle cost analysis and finding the right balance between construction cost and sustainable building strategies. Research in this field is conducted at the university level and has been presented at various international conferences in recent years (SETAC Gothenburg 2010, Ecomondo Rimini 2011, SETAC Berlin 2012 and Rome 2012, PLEA Los Angeles 2016 and Edinburgh 2017).
Deeply rooted in Italian design culture, PAT. It is a boutique firm with international projection, with projects on four continents and currently under development in Italy, Kenya and Qatar.
