Sampling
Sampling is a Belgian-Latvian interdisciplinary architecture and conceptual design studio based in Ghent and Riga. It is led by Liene Jākobsone (LV) and Manten Devriendt (BE), who founded the studio in 2010.
Sampling has developed a wide range of projects: buildings and reconstructions of various kinds, development concepts for large areas, as well as exhibition and product design. Both partners are actively involved in the international academic sphere, lecturing, leading creative workshops, conducting research, and publishing.
In their daily practice, Sampling works at different scales, merging design, architecture, and landscape architecture in their projects. The focus is always on the relationship between people, space, and the environment, intending to influence the perception of space.
In their practice, Sampling also seeks new architectural forms and expressions within the context of contemporary technological and aesthetic challenges, and they consider themselves one of the driving forces in the development of the field of architecture.
