ZZHK Architects
ZZHK Architects is an architecture firm based in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China, founded in 2014 and led by architect Zhang Ke (Ke Zhang), who serves as the principal responsible for the office’s conceptual, design, and operational direction. His professional recognition was solidified in 2017, when he was named one of China’s most influential young architects.
The firm focuses on projects that explore formal, structural, and landscape research, with particular attention to the relationship between architecture, infrastructure, and territory. It belongs to a generation of Chinese studios that investigate new ways to intervene in rapidly transforming urban and natural landscapes.
Among its most notable works is the Ruyi Bridge, internationally recognized as one of the most beautiful and distinctive modern pedestrian bridges in the world. This project has received awards, including the Architecture MasterPrize: Best of Best, the Golden Panda Award, and the Sichuan Excellent Design Award, and has been included in the collection of the Architecture Model Museum.
Another significant project, the Holiday Inn Express E’mei Qiliping, was featured in the European publication Contemporary Architecture. Masterpieces Around the World, and also earned the Golden Panda Award and the Sichuan Excellent Design Award, as well as selection for the Architecture Model Museum collection.
ZZHK Architects’ portfolio spans a wide range of scales, from bridges and public facilities to experimental architectural and landscape interventions. Its projects are characterized by an expressive approach linked to structure, precise use of geometry, and a careful reading of the physical and cultural context.
