Se ha anunciado la lista de los finalistas del prestigioso Premio RIBA Stirling para el mejor edificio nuevo del Reino Unido de 2017. El premio se otorga a los arquitectos y compañeros internacionales para edificios en el Reino Unido que han llevado a cabo la mayor contribución a la evolución de la arquitectura en el último año.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) ha anunciado los seis edificios que han sido seleccionados para el codiciado Premio RIBA Stirling 2017 como el mejor edificio nuevo del Reino Unido. En su 22º aniversario, el Premio Stirling de RIBA, patrocinado por Almacantar, se ha convertido en el premio de arquitectura más prestigioso del Reino Unido, seleccionando este año edificios que van desde una pequeña casa en una calle urbana hasta el Centro Mundial de Conservación y Centro de exposiciones del British Museum.
El Premio RIBA Stirling se otorga en función de una serie de criterios que incluyen la visión de diseño; innovación y originalidad; capacidad para estimular, involucrar y deleitar a los ocupantes y visitantes; accesibilidad y sostenibilidad; cómo se adapta el edificio para su propósito y el nivel de satisfacción del cliente.
Los seis edificios preseleccionados ahora tendrán que esperar a ver quién será el ganador del premio según el Instituto Real de Arquitectos británicos, como lo hizo Caruso St John architects el año pasado con el proyecto Newport Street Galley.
Los ganadores serán anunciados el jueves 31 de octubre en la Roundhouse de Londres.

- Centro Mundial de Conservación y Exposiciones del British Museum por Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners para The British Museum.
Nacido en 1996 de su predecesor, el Premio a la Construcción del Año, el Premio Stirling RIBA lleva el nombre de James Stirling. Stirling ganó la Real Medalla de Oro en 1980 "en reconocimiento a los logros del pasado que existen en su propio derecho, así como el potencial de los proyectos no construidos, tanto en el pasado y el futuro, que son una parte inseparable del vocabulario de Stirling".
