CoLab TU Berlin is a collaborative project and research laboratory directed by Ignacio Borrego, based in Berlin, Germany, within the Department of Architectural Representation and Design at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin). It is part of CoLab, the research laboratory founded by Ignacio Borrego, Almudena Ribot, Javier Gª-Germán, and Diego Gª-Setién in 2009 in Madrid, Spain.
CoLab's objective is to examine the interrelationships between design strategies and processes in contemporary industry, with the aim of applying a model based on collective work to the practice of design and architectural representation.
According to the team, there is still a lack of communication and interaction between designers and the manufacturing sector. To overcome this gap and foster effective cooperation, design practice, architectural representation, and production processes are integrated into projects whose success is based on collaborative work.
