Estúdio AMATAM
Estúdio AMATAM is an architecture practice founded in 2014 by João Escaleira Amaral and Manuela Tamborino in Almada, Portugal. Their practice encompasses a wide range of scales and areas of expertise, from design and architecture to urban planning. They develop both formal and informal strategies and undertake projects in various countries.
The studio's design approach relies on working with multidisciplinary teams, allowing them to address each commission holistically and rigorously. AMATAM views each project as a unique opportunity, approaching it with the same dedication as the first, aiming to enhance their clients' initial intentions and transform them into proposals that offer originality, efficiency, character, and added value.
From its inception, each intervention is understood as a system of cross-cutting solutions that respond to functional, technical, and aesthetic parameters, as well as sensory considerations. For the studio, architecture is not only inhabited, but experienced: spaces must be felt, and its practice is geared towards creating environments capable of generating well-being and a genuine connection with those who use them.
