Gutiérrez Herreros
Virgilio Luis Gutiérrez Herreros is an architect from the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid since 1982. He founded his own professional office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife since 1984. Is a member of Culture and President of the Demarcation of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro del Colegio of Architects of the Canary Islands, from 1995 to 2000 and from 2000 to 2007, respectively. Is the promoter from the COAC of conferences and courses on Architecture and Landscape, and of the editions of the Documents of Canarian Architects or the Contemporary Architecture Guide of Tenerife.
Collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron, in the development of the project and construction management of TEA-Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, 1998/2008, and in construction management of Plaza de España, 2006/2008. Member of the Scientific Committee of the 1st Biennial of Architecture, Art and Landscape of the Canary Islands, 2006/2007. Co-director of the 2nd Biennial of Architecture, Art and Landscape of the Canary Islands, in its beginnings, 2008. Dean of the College of Architects of the Canary Islands, 2008/2010. Collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron, as External Supervisor, in the development of the project for the 'BBVA Headquarters in Madrid', 2009/2011. Academic of the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts since 2015. Tutor of the final master's project of the first class of qualified architects of the European University of the Canary Islands, January/July 2018. Member of the Board of Directors of TEA since its constitution in 2009 until the end of 2019. Promoter of '... towards a collection on the limit...' - drawings and photographs - architecture and landscape -. Architecture Award of the Canary Islands and Tenerife: 3 first prizes (1 with Eustaquio), 9 distinctions (3 with Eustaquio) and 17 selected works. Jury member and competition advisor. Participation in critical sessions organized by the Schools of Architecture of Harvard, Lausanne, Madrid-Princeton, North London, ETH Zurich-Studio Basel, Universidad Europea de Canarias and the School of Architecture of Las Palmas.
