Marcos Rico Arquitectos

Marcos Rico Arquitectos is an architecture practice founded in Burgos in 1933 by the architect Marcos Rico Santamaría. It is currently led by the second generation, Marcos and Victoria Rico, who joined in the 1990s. The firm maintains its headquarters in Burgos and develops projects throughout Spain. Their projects combine tradition and innovation, with a strong commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and urban quality.

The architecture practice work encompasses: residential architecture, including multi-family and single-family housing; public buildings, including sports, educational, healthcare, and social service facilities; hotel and service architecture; urban planning and development, including land management, sector development, and urban planning; and heritage rehabilitation and intervention, including the restoration of unique buildings and their integration into protected environments.

Their most notable projects include: the Museum Domingo de Silos (2000), 255 apartments on Avenida de Cantabria, Burgos (2004), 410 apartments in the San Agustín area, Burgos (2005), Hotel Silken Gran Teatro, Burgos (2008), Federico Martínez Varea and Sagrada Familia senior living residences in Burgos (2009), Lavaderos Sports Center renovation (2010), Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (2012), 136 apartments in the Coprasa area, Burgos (2015), comprehensive renovation of Calle Recoletos 8, Madrid (2019), NaturePharma offices in Arnedo (2022), comprehensive renovation of Calle Recoletos 12, Madrid (2024), senior living residence in Ávila (2024), and new ECyL Employment Office (2025).

The studio boasts a multidisciplinary team of architects and technicians, regularly collaborating with engineers, interior designers, and energy efficiency specialists. This network of professionals allows them to tackle highly complex projects with technical expertise and creativity.

Throughout its history, the studio has participated in and won numerous public and private competitions, establishing itself as a leading firm in residential, institutional, and renovation architecture.
