Márquez Cecilia

Fernando Márquez Cecilia (Madrid, 1957) is an architect from the Madrid School of Architecture, where he graduated in 1980.

In 1982, he founded the publishing house and architecture studio El Croquis with Richard Levene, where they edit and direct the prestigious magazine considered one of the most influential publications in contemporary architecture, as well as the Architecture Library collection of theory and essays.

In 1999, they opened the El Croquis Architecture Gallery in El Escorial, dedicated to the exhibition of models of important projects under construction in Spain.

In academia, he is a professor in the Department of Design at the School of Architecture and Art at the European University of Madrid. Between 2000 and 2010, he was head of the History of 20th-Century Architecture and Art course at the same institution.

In 1990, with Richard Levene and Antonio R. Barbarín, he co-edited the book Arquitectura Española Contemporánea 1975/1990, a landmark work analyzing recent architecture in Spain.

Throughout his career, he has been invited to participate in numerous courses, seminars, and juries, establishing himself as a key figure in the criticism, publication, and reflection on contemporary architecture.
