NU architectuuratelier is an architecture and design platform led by Armand Eeckels (1973) and Halewijn Lievens (1975), founded in Ghent, Belgium, in 2004. 

The platform was created to foster intensive research in architecture and design that delves into culture, nature, and human well-being. NU architectuuratelier seeks an empathetic, tactile, and robust architecture that contributes to a socially, spatially, and ecologically valuable living environment. An architecture that strives to be close to those around it and that impacts all aspects of our existence. Often, complex spatial issues addressed through a well-developed design research process result in projects that speak for themselves.

From the conviction that architecture can make an essential contribution to a good life and offer support to people who need it in their spatial environment, NU architectuuratelier develops many care-related projects. Here, architecture serves as an anchor point, a means of staying connected to the surroundings and the world.

In addition, NU architectuuratelier is actively committed to the transition toward a more sustainable construction sector, exploring how the ecological impact of building practices can be reduced on various scales. Collaboration plays a key role: by forming sustainable alliances with experts, NU aims to break established thought patterns and inspire all stakeholders in the construction process to pursue a shared, more sustainable path.

NU aspires to architecture with a careful impact: rooted in context, open to change, and responsive to both people and the environment. Not intrusive statements, but spaces where public dynamics, ecology, and architecture naturally come together.
