Little Simz is the author of the song’s most aggressive verses—those that point directly at and tear apart the actions of the person in question. Obongjayar is responsible for delivering these lines in the song’s introduction, with phrases that later resurface in the chorus: intervals of intimate reflection in which the artist seeks to free herself from her negative thoughts without straying from the path of sanity.
A flawless set of lyrics that, combined with the force of the instrumental and the striking black-and-white imagery, keeps the viewer immersed in the video, with tension running high. It captures how a bull’s charge can be transformed into a ritual of release and transformation, revealing part of the process that symbolizes the birth of a flower in murky waters: Lotus.
