FaulknerBrowns Architects

FaulknerBrowns Architects is an architecture practice founded in Newcastle in 1962 by Harry Faulkner-Brown and W. H. Williamson, with the ambition of creating buildings of national significance. Since then, the practice has evolved under the stewardship of successive generations of partners, building a career spanning more than six decades across architecture and urbanism.

Today, FaulknerBrowns is an international practice with studios in Newcastle, Dublin, Vancouver and Dubai. Its structure brings together architects, technologists and professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and areas of expertise, encouraging the exchange of knowledge between teams and studios. The practice works across different scales and typologies, including civic and cultural buildings, sports facilities, educational architecture, housing, commercial buildings, urban regeneration and masterplanning.

FaulknerBrowns’ work balances the functional, technical and economic requirements of each project with close attention to context, use and long-term adaptability. Its experience across different building types and geographical locations enables the practice to develop integrated solutions drawing on accumulated knowledge and collaboration between its different teams.

The practice is currently led through a partnership structure comprising Ben Sykes, Grant Blindell, Kate Busby, Katharine Logan, Lee McLaughlin, Mike Hall, Niall Durney, Patrick McMahon, Paul Richardson, Paul Rigby and Steve McIntyre.
