Spanish filmmaker and photographer Derek Pedrós presents his latest audiovisual project, "Casa No Tempo: The Possibilities of Dwelling," for Silent Living, filmed at Casa No Tempo by Aires Mateus in the Alentejo region of Spain.

This piece of visual research highlights dance and the language of movement as a tool for understanding architectural space and its atmosphere. Starring Spanish dancer Elena Castellanos, we rediscover the delicate work of Aires Mateus and its privileged setting.

“Architecture is a support for life, a structure that frames it, makes it possible and desirable.”

Manuel Aires Mateus.

Derek Pedrós's work revolves around the search for "the beauty of the intangible," focusing on capturing the sensations of human beings when interacting with their environment and space.

This audiovisual piece shows how we inhabit voids, how architecture shelters life, and how we relate to place. It reveals the dialogue between the human body and space and its textures through sound, human scale, and movement.

Derek Pedrós (b. 5 de agosto de 1985 en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, en las Islas Canarias) is a Spanish filmmaker and photographer known for focusing his work on the intersection of architecture and dance.

His work investigates the complexity of sensations and the relationship between human beings and their environment, in a quest for what he defines as ‘the beauty of the intangible.’

This project represents a fundamental chapter in his ongoing research, defined by an approach where the human body acts as an instrument for revealing the invisible qualities of space, rather than as a performance.

His previous architectural explorations include iconic projects in Spanish history, such as Torres Blancas and the Zarzuela Hippodrome.
