A woman gazing through a small window in the bathroom in a building by Giuseppe Perugini, flames lapping the edges of an Indian brick kiln, the structure by Herzog & De Meuron's Beijing Olympic stadium, a rare infrastructure perspective of Amsterdam's newest Metro Line or a photo of Gothic doorway in Milan's Doumo taken on a Smartphone, have been selected as the finalists of the Chartered Institute of Building’s (CIOB) 2014 Art of Building Photographer of the Year competition.

The fifteen photographs were shortlisted by a panel of judges – including photography critic and editor Sue Steward, award-winning photographer Matt Wain and the editor of Construction Manager magazine, Elaine Knutt – to win the digital photography competition, organised by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

The photographs can now be voted on by the public, until 11 January 2015, and decide who is the name of the winner awarded a £3,000 cash prize. The Art of Building Photographer of the Year competition, now in its fifth year, is open to both amateur and professional architectural photographers.

The name of the winner will be announced on 5 February.

In a press release, Saul Townsend, CIOB spokesman, said.- “There is a cornucopia of styles and stories in this year’s final. In a world full of high definition colour technology, black and white photography still inspires a host of photographers.  Voters are in for a visual treat and will hopefully be inspired to look at the built environment in a new way and to take part themselves next year.”

Remember, you're only allowed to vote once, so choose carefully! Vote for your favorite before January 11, 2015 on CIOB’s Art of Building website
