As part of the event LUMIERES! organized by the Parc de la Villette and open until January 2, 2022, the studio 1024 Architecture presents the installation Constellation, within a fairy tale journey composed of three monumental installations.

To end this peculiar year, La Villette clads itself in lights, the scale of its vast vegetation and distinctive architecture. Several impressive installations such as the three monumental  "Constellation"" by 1024 architecture, "From the light flow" by Group F, and "Intimité" by Lélia Demoisy, will charm the park of La Villette.
Just above the water, the installation by 1024 Architecture allows moon fragments to line up elegantly while laser beams draw surprising shapes on the park’s vegetation in a great galactical ballet, a monumental ode to the beauty of living things.

Over a length of nearly 250 meters, the galactic ballet of lights composes a milky way of imaginary stars on the surface of the Ourq canal.

Description of project by 1024 Architecture

Between a work of light and digital art, Constellation composes a galactic ballet, sparkling on the water surface of the Ourq canal. With an immersive soundtrack, the laser projections animate an architecture of moving lights, whose rays cross and interconnect. Specifically designed for the site, the project perfectly integrates this part of the park located in front of the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie de Paris. Simply fixed to the structural masts of the long footbridge along the canal, the laser projectors compose a minimalist device, blending into the landscape. Despite its large scale, it requires very little electricity (less than 1600 Watts).

Generated by a digital algorithm, the dynamic stellar pattern is mapped and synchronized by the projectors on the water surface. This light choreography was made possible by a specific digital technology, also designed by 1024 architecture. MadLaser, an extension of the MadMapper software, allows the real time control and programming of laser light beams. Constellation is one of 1024 architecture’s first installations using this technology, developed by the studio for over two years. Through this in-situ installation, as a monumental ode to the beauty of nature, 1024 architecture offers an immersive and poetic experience, in the unique environment of the Parc de la Villette. An invitation to travel and dream...

Founded in 2007 by François Wunschel and Pier Schneider, 1024 architecture is a creative studio operating in galleries and art centers as well as on stage or in public spaces, through the conception of often monumental audiovisual installations and performances in which sound and light are set in motion in space.

Breaking away from the notion of limits between disciplines, the studio focuses on spatial practices, digital technology, and visual effects to create unique artworks, installations, and performances.

1024 sees architecture and inhabited spaces as evolutive structures. The duo devises new and original experiences, accompanied by their associates and developers. Installations, stage design, visual arts, performances, and lighting structures are all ways of awakening our sensations, touching our bodies and memories. From one-day projects to perennial installations, 1024 designs unique artworks that interact with their environment.
