Lemonot and O-SH planned to collect the vine shoots from nearby cellars and transform them into building material. The initiative succeeded in enhancing these neglected vestiges by forming a stage. The vine shoots, which have been arranged in a curved and irregular shape, look both natural and geometrical at the same time. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a lively, comfortable and touchable space.
The wooden structure is 16 metres long and 4 metres high. Natural and heterogeneous, it is divided into 14 vertical modules linked by 6 rows of horizontal reinforcements. It is a versatile and durable system that offers an efficient and practical solution for a variety of applications. The vine shoots, placed one on top of the other, let in flashes of light, forming natural and irregular lattices that create unique lighting effects. The stone walls of the houses in the square are framed by an oculus at one end.

The square will be filled with more than 1,200 bundles of vine shoots gathered in a wooden structure to form a seating area, a raised gazebo overlooking the street and a communal table with benches. Anyone can take part in this central meal. All you have to do is open the windows overlooking the square. This creates a human arena suspended above street level. It is a “convivium”, an event that goes beyond the simple everyday act of eating.
Description of project by Lemonot y O-SH
The project starts with a simple ritual: collecting and repurposing sarmientos—vine branches trimmed in winter. These will be gathered from nearby vineyards and turned into construction material. We aim to celebrate these leftovers, usually burned, by creating a theatrical backdrop in the form of an urban square that connects with the memory of the vineyard. 1200 sarmientos will soar over the trails, forming a natural yet geometrical space that invites contemplation and interaction.
