Curated by Valentín Roma, and designed by architect Juan Herreros, the exhibition "Razón y ciudad" takes a deep look at the 35-year photographic production of Manolo Laguillo, in five theme-chronological sections that goes from his firsts images, taken during the 70s, to a selection of recent work, where the current investigation process of the photographer can be seen.
The title "Razón y ciudad" highlights the importance of the metropolitan document in photographers work and, at the same time, it refers to a common feature of cities pictured by Laguillo: all of them show human intervention effects, processes or results of different ways of planning. The city looks like the result of decisions and tests that modifies its own evolution, and sometimes introducing parameters which lead to proportion and continuity but, more often, expressing sort of a rational absence.
The catalogue for this exhibition includes texts by Valentín Roma, Juan Herreros, Alberto Martín, Laurga González Flores, Iván de la Nuez and Javier Pérez Andújar, who analyze Laguillo's evolution and his position in recent Spanish photography. The publication is completed with texts written by Laguillo just for this project.
