The industrial building designed by architecture practice Studio Bressan, in collaboration with Studio Botter, is part of a production zone comprised of buildings dedicated to international logistics. Its strategic location, near the main roads connecting to the town of Montebelluna, Italy, facilitates the management and daily movement of goods. An orderly arrangement of clear and precise geometric forms characterizes the formal language of the complex.

In this context, and reinforcing the unified image of the complex, the new logistics hangar for D.B. Group is presented as an element composed of a slightly vaulted roof, supported by three large metal tie rods, along with a system of primary and secondary truss beams. A simple yet striking volume, with a large open floor plan, easily adapts to the company's needs.

The design conceived by Studio Bressan and Studio Botter represents an example of infrastructural architecture capable of combining a complex program with a refined aesthetic, despite its peripheral location. The proposal focuses on the efficiency of vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow, optimizing its layout in relation to the logistical development of production activities.

The facades, characterized by a regular sequence of loading docks with vertical openings, facilitate adequate ventilation and natural lighting inside. Formally, the vaulted roof and modular envelope create a restrained building that enhances the image of the existing industrial landscape. The regularity and rhythm of the elements convey an image of efficient production logic that characterizes the complex.

Project description by Studio Bressan + Studio Botter

D.B. Group is a company operating in the field of international logistics, with its headquarters located in Montebelluna, in a strategic area along the Feltrina state road, just a short distance from the connection to the Pedemontana Veneta highway. This location provides direct access to the main infrastructure networks of Northeast Italy—an ideal condition for an organization that operates daily in the efficient management of time, space, and the mobility of goods. The headquarters is situated within a productive district characterized by logistics-oriented buildings, structured around two typologies: warehouses and office spaces. The development of the area began in 2008, progressively defining a unified and recognizable architectural language based on clean geometries, distinct volumes, and a clear, identity-driven compositional order.

The new logistics hangar builds upon this foundation, adopting a coherent and functional architectural language that strengthens the unified image of the site. The key structural element defining the project’s identity is the low-arched roof, supported by three large steel stays and a system of primary and secondary truss beams. This solution creates a vast, uninterrupted interior space, with generous height and a simple yet imposing volume—offering maximum flexibility in organizing logistics operations and allowing the free circulation of vehicles. The structure, left exposed inside, becomes both an architectural element and a measure of space. The curved roof softens the rigidity of the parallelepiped volume and establishes a perceptible rhythm even from the outside.

The underground level houses a parking area with independent access and separate pedestrian routes, while the logistics floor is organized into operational areas, compartmentalized office and service zones, separate access points, and a section equipped for handling air freight pallets. The circulation flows are designed to ensure an orderly and functional use of space, clearly distinguishing between operational traffic and personnel pathways.

The building envelope reflects the architectural vocabulary of the entire industrial complex, based on repeated modular construction and an essential, technical language. The façades are rhythmically articulated by a regular sequence of loading bays and vertical openings, providing natural ventilation and daylight inside. The solid surfaces are built from prefabricated reinforced concrete panels, painted in metallic gray—a choice that emphasizes the building’s technical character and integrates it harmoniously into the surrounding industrial landscape. The repetition of modules and the absence of decorative elements produce a sober yet elegant architectural image, where construction precision becomes expressive language.

Light plays a fundamental role in the project: in addition to the vertical openings, the vaulted roof integrates continuous skylights that bring zenithal light into the operational spaces. This system reduces the need for artificial lighting during the day and enhances the perceptual quality of the working environment. The combination of regular apertures and the controlled transparency of the vertical glazing gives visual depth and internal rhythm, transforming an industrial building into a welcoming and efficient infrastructure.

The layout is designed to ensure maximum flow efficiency: vehicular and pedestrian paths are clearly separated, the central operational areas can be easily reconfigured according to the company’s needs, and service zones are strategically positioned to avoid interfering with vehicle movement. The clarity of the plan and the neutrality of the spaces allow the warehouse to evolve over time, accommodating new automation technologies and adapting to different operational configurations.

The new logistics hangar for D.B. Group Spa is an example of conscious infrastructural architecture, capable of combining functionality and architectural language. The vaulted roof, modular envelope, and precise management of flows define a building that does more than host a productive activity: it becomes part of a coherent and enduring built landscape. A sober and measured intervention that translates logistics efficiency into constructive clarity.

Studio Bressan is an interdisciplinary architecture practice based in Montebelluna, in the province of Treviso, active for over forty years and currently led by architects Andrea and Emanuele Bressan. The studio operates in Italy and abroad, working across scales from urban planning to architecture, from restoration to interior design, following the entire design process from concept to completion. Its approach combines careful attention to context, environmental and economic sustainability, construction quality, and attention to detail. Alongside its core professional activity, which over the years has led the studio to independently manage large-scale projects, Studio Bressan actively participates in the contemporary cultural debate and has received national and international awards and publications. Studio Bressan was founded in 1980 by Gianni Bressan.

Andrea Bressan was born in 1980 in Asolo (Treviso). After completing a scientific high school diploma, he graduated with honors in Architecture from IUAV University of Venice in 2005, with a thesis supervised by architect and urban planner Giorgio Lombardi. After graduating, he collaborated with Professor Lombardi and architect Trevisan, and in 2006 began a professional and cultural path through the founding of Frammenti, a network of young professionals focused on participatory urban design. This activity led to recognition in several design competitions, particularly on themes related to urban housing. In parallel, he works as a consultant for the Municipality of Asolo on urban planning, urban regeneration, the livability of the historic center, and urban furniture.

In 2013, he took over the management of the studio founded by his father, Gianni Bressan, which became Studio Bressan. He has been a member of the Municipal Building Commission of Asolo since 2020 and of the Landscape Commission since 2024. He has been registered with the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists of the Province of Treviso since 2006.

Emanuele Bressan, born in 1985 in Asolo (Treviso), completed his scientific high school education with top marks and graduated with honors in Architectural Sciences from IUAV University of Venice in 2007. In 2008, he was awarded a scholarship through the Swiss European Mobility Programme and attended the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, where he studied with internationally renowned architects. In 2010, he obtained his Master’s degree with honors from IUAV, developing a project between Mendrisio and Venice.

From 2010 to 2017, he worked at Studio Mario Botta Architetto as a project architect and project coordinator, contributing to complex projects in the residential, cultural, tertiary, and infrastructural sectors across Europe and Asia. Between 2017 and 2019, he collaborated with Studio Stocker-Lee in Switzerland, working on international projects. Alongside this experience, he has long been active within Studio Bressan and has participated in competitions and collaborations throughout Europe. Among his most significant works is the Palaluxottica multipurpose center in Agordo, which has received international awards and publications. He is registered with the Order of Architects of Treviso and has been a member of the Technical and Scientific Committee of the Fondazione Architettura Treviso since 2023.
