In his lecture, “111”, the Swiss Architect Raphael Zuber will provide an overview of his recent works, which illustrate his approach to architecture based on the concept and study of geometric simplicity.
Raphael Zuber studied at ETH Zurich and opened his own studio in 2003. With his first project, the Grono schoolhouse, he won the 2012 Swiss Earthquake Award from the Foundation for Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, as well as the Graubünden Good Building Award. Zuber's schoolhouse project is a testament to how his precise work with the formal language of geometric simplicity, the building’s structural and programmatic solution has turned a modest project in terms of size and budget into a highly sophisticated building.
Zuber combines his professional work with teaching. He has taught at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Cornell University and ETH Zurich. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
