The architects Pedro Bandeira and Pedro Nuno Ramalho have proposed a new reuse of Oporto Bridge. The proposal, fun, witty and unworkable, has been echoed in different media.

For years the city of Porto is a city that has reinvented itself winning some of its lost luster. Is the destination of a journey that must be made no excuses for the lovers of the good architecture and Oporto, and also you can know exceptional people.

A journey that we had to give to those who say it is obsoleted, to notice that writing and speaking must be knowing. In an article, a few days ago, comparing this bridge, which is currently used for passing cars and at the top for the passage of the Porto metro lines (By the way, I recommend a visit to the subway stations city subway stations, designed by excellent architects) with recent buildings such as the Forum of Barcelona or Zaragoza Water Tower, which have no use and have been an obvious failure management.

Choosing bad companions to talk about Porto Bridge, not Eiffel Bridge in Porto, is at least a blunder. Trying to compare a bridge with a two centuries history, that is still active, it's at least an absurdity. If it is also accompanied by a critique of the past management in Spain, the thing seems a bit anachronistic.

I start to be tired of these anachronisms, constant criticism against everything and ourselves. From the outside, in these months I'm in France, and for some time also in other countries like the UK, USA, etc. ... we don't have to envy anything, about how others work, even,  we are reference.

An example: almost 50% of architects working in studios in Geneva are Spanish, thanks to their excellent training. They want architects from Spain, not another.

A little bit of chauvinism for ourselves, for this magnificent Porto Bridge, please we need some of Chauvinism to get out of this hole that some people have gotten us, but not all. Chauvinism for this country now! please.
