Amada is a seat made by Matthias Pliessnig, an American from Philadelphia, whose work is somewhere between handicraft, art and design.

His pieces are the result of the use of both traditional and digital techniques, using Rhino, the well-known software, to model in 3D. After his move to Wisconsin he began to work with wood from controlled cuts using sustainable criteria and natural drying techniques. The wood is moulded with steam.

Amada is the result of a commission by a private client whose only requirement was that he make a bench that looked like something that floated in space. The result was a large-scale piece that can be placed in different positions according to the space that surrounds it.

Steam bent white oak, 276"x116"x34" (401 cm x 294 cm x 86 cm).
