An optimistic– but not enough– note. Good ideas are always appearing, and so does the bus company of Andy Didorosi in Detroit. They are always interesting and motivating, but they seem clearly inefficient and illusory in order to solve the problems that have led one of USA's largest cities to be declared in bankruptcy today, with a 15-billion € debt.
Artist Kobie Solomon painted some happiness on the back of The Detroit Bus Company bus referred to as Bettis. The buses are not just for transit. Detroit Bus Company also holds special events like historic Detroit tours, bar crawls and secret dinners.
The Detroit Bus Company is helping to better connect Detroit with its metropolitan area and doing it in an environmentally friendly way by powering their buses with biodiesel.
Young entrepreneur Andy Didorosi believes that the way to Detroit’s new era depends on better leadership and a solid connection between the city and the suburbs. So when the city in 2012 axed its plans to build the M-1 light rail, the transit solution that would’ve bridged that vital connection, Didorosi was mad as hell. So what’s an angry young man in this situation supposed to do? Well, Didorosi bought a bus, had a local artist trick it out with a wicked mural, and he started the Detroit Bus Company. Dedicated to a more connected city, Andy Didorosi is bringing Detroit home one ride at a time.
