Can Batlló, as an invisible giant, hidden behind the walls. An enclosure pending processing and object of the claim and fight neighborhood for many years, currently in the process of reappropriation by the public. We wonder about which are the rules of the game, the actors, interests and strategies that have dictated the urban transformation in Barcelona in the last thirty years and have brought us to the current Barcelona, the Can Batlló of private property against the Can Batlló of the city. We wonder about the future, and the other possible Barcelonas. A documentary about Batlló and imaginary cities. At the end of the documentary laCol and Natxo Medina will ask questions, concerns and proposals.
Ecumenópolis is a documentary film festival on on urban phenomena and transformation processes of the contemporary city. A monthly appointment linked to the cultural programme of Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya open to the general public. The festival presents itself as a journey landing on different spots on the plante to observe both unique examples of city building as well tipologies that are repeated very similarly on very different contexts, turning into practical lessons of urban planning portraying both successes and failures, generating the debate on the way we inhabit the cities and therefore how do we dwell on the planet.
