On November 18 the first retrospective of Manuel Gallego's career opens its doors to the general public at the Barrié Foundation headquarters of La Coruña (Spain). The exhibition about the Spanish Architect, who won the National Architecture Award in 1997, spans from his early works in 1967 until now. This retrospective has been planned as an experience that provokes a reflection on the complexity that may appear, from the original idea and context, in architecture; as well as the synthesis of the architect's work.

Manuel Gallego's projects have been divided in "housing architecture" and "architecture of spaces of collective use" categories, which are distributed on the different floors of the Barrié Foundation headquarters. So that visitors can fully appreciate the career of the Galician architect, Barrié Foundation has collected through sixteen models, twenty large-format drawings, more than four hundred photographs (being sixteen extra-large) and two videos his most important works. Free public activities, such as workshops and guided tours will be carried out in parallel, in support for the main exhibition.

Each project defines the space where it is exposed, as architecture exists to create a place to live and use. This location is defined by internal and external forces that come from the abstract space. These concepts determine the final architecture and, therefore, the use the visitants may give to it. These different "places", attributed to a particular project, relate to each other to create a common climate through light and the general atmosphere.

Among the selected projects are the Museum of Fine Arts in A Coruña (1997), the Presidential Galician Complex (2002) and the Cultural Center and Council of A Illa de Arousa (2005-2008). The exhibition will run until March 10, 2016.
