CentroCentro Cibeles houses one of the largest collective exhibitions in the official section of PHotoEspaña 2015, Develar y detonar. Photography in Mexico, ca. 2015 brings together fifty-three artists in a collective exhibition that reviews the photographic production in today's Mexico, a country that has undergone profound social, political and ideological changes, a changing nation in which the photographic production has grown exponentially. The selected authors from different generations and geographical origins, come together to chart a complex, contradictory and unsettling map of Mexico. This atlas will raise questions and photography opens to reflection and dialogue. On the one hand, "develar" new ways of looking and produce instantaneously, and on the other, "detonar" a reflection on the contemporary image.
The Fundación Loewe joins the official theme of PHotoEspaña 2015 with the first solo exhibition in Spain dedicated to the Italian photographer Tina Modotti (Italy 1896-Mexico, 1942). The sample consists of fifty photographs by Tina Modotti, originaly printed on silver and platinum, which can be seen in the exhibition space at the Loewe shop in Calle Serrano, 26. The exhibition offers a selection of the short photographic period of Tina Modotti, a work that reflects both the visual acuity of the artist during the time in which she lived. Modotti's work captures images halfway between modernity and tradition. The photographer was sensitive to both social and human reality as well as to the shape and texture of her surroundings.
