Tomorrow, Monday, February 5, Rafael Moneo presents "La vida de los edificios / The Life of the Buildings" at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum.
The presentation of "La vida de los edificios. La mezquita de Córdoba, la lonja de Sevilla y un carmen en Grananda / The life of the buildings, the mosque of Cordoba, the market of Seville and a carmen in Grananda" (Acantilado, 2017), will be in the afternoon at 7pm, in a conversation of Rafael Moneo with the journalist Llàtzer Moix.
Through three articles written in different times and circumstances, Rafael Moneo brings us closer to architecture by inviting us to observe with a new look two buildings as well known as the Mosque of Cordoba and the Seville market, and to discover another more recent and secret: the Carmen by Rodríguez-Acosta in Granada. "On buildings," says the well-known architect, "time gravitates [...] we are forced to accept that their lives imply continuous change [...] At the same time, the life of buildings is supported by their architecture, by the permanence of their most characteristic features and, although it seems a paradox, it is such permanence that allows to appreciate the changes ». A revealing and instructive approach to the history and geography of our country by the hand of one of the contemporary architects who has best known how to link past and present.
