On Wednesday 25th May Steven Johnson will talk to us about how innovative ideas have arisen throughout history and the seven fundamental principles that contribute to their appearance.

The conference is part of the cycle “Understanding changes. Books, ideas and authors in Fundación Telefónica” and will take place at 12:00 p.m.in the Valle-Inclán Hall of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Society) (5th floor). It will be chaired by the journalist and professor of the Universidad Carlos III, José María Calleja.

About the speaker

Steven Johnson is a well-known writer of a popular North American science book. He has worked as a columnist in magazines like Discover and Wired and was one of the founding members of the webzine Feed Magazine in 1995. Since 2006 he has managed the Outside-in community.

In his last book Where Good Ideas Come From Natural History of Innovation (2010), Johnson analyses how innovative ideas have arisen throughout history, and identifies seven fundamental principles that promote the appearance of these kinds of ideas, analyzing them over time and their application in different disciplines.
