"Detente, instante. Una historia de la fotografía / Stop, instant. A Photography history" is an exhibition that rehearses one of the possible histories of photography from its birth, proposing a story of the medium through three hundred photographs gathered over four decades, in a careful selection of two exceptional collections, pioneering and complementary: that of Dietmar Siegert in Germany and that of Enrique Ordóñez and Isabel Falcón in Spain.

"Detente, instante. Una historia de la fotografía”, begins with the new look at the world that allowed the invention of the medium around 1840, taking a journey that goes from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st. In it, you can see works by Irving Penn, Man Ray, Samuel Bourne, Sasha Stone, Jeff Wall, Cartier-Bresson, Arbus, Brassaï, Stieglitz, Fenton, Atget, Tillmans...
The exhibition realization, designed by Angela Juarranz, materializes in a journey that goes from a space where an atmosphere is generated that facilitates the intimacy and singularity of the first images until reaching the state of the ubiquity of contemporary photography.

With this idea, a progressive route is proposed that goes from black to white, from a darker environment to the brighter one, through the generation of fluid transits that facilitate the visitor's transit through the different spaces prepared for the different periods to which the photographs belong.

The images are displayed along the perimeter of the room and on suspended interior modules that manage to double the available exhibition space. These elements that seem to float in the space of the room allude to the comb systems used by art galleries and workshops for conservation and storage, whose support is made up of metal meshes and polycarbonate plates that facilitate, also in the exhibition, an Optimized surface for exhibiting work.

The materials used are basically an electro-welded mesh with diameters of 5 mm and a modulation of 30 x 5 cm and polycarbonate panels with a thickness of 10 mm, in bronze and ice finishes.

«One of the motivations during the design of the modules consisted of operating in an unlimited field of possibilities through the option of recycling these elements beyond the exhibition period. For this reason, the design of autonomous structures that allow their direct use or their transformation for a future hanging of work in other spaces was emphasized.»
Angela Juarranz

The architecture of the exhibition, designed by Angela Juarranz, generates a space where the words "Stop, instant" from Goethe's Faust inspire a place in suspension —temporal and spatial—, in order to achieve the right place to present a visual history of 150 years.
