Most times, a show's photography focuses on what is going on onstage and naturally, the performers receive all the flashes. However, there is also value offstage.

What follows is a personal look at some Montevideo shows through the lens of Alejandro Pérez Sacco.
Although these two sets of pictures by Alejandro Pérez Sacco are closely related, they are also clearly differentiated. Two groups of images that speak of the energy prior to, and after the stage. The dazzling colors of the onstage action contrast with the elegant chiaroscuro of the more intimate offstage scenes. 

Both sets are two sides of the same coin: the scenic experience in front of the audience and the intimate one, both seen by the photographer's sensitivity.

Alejandro Pérez Sacco was born in Montevideo in 1962. He returns to his hometown in 2014 after 7 years living in Spain, where he received his first formal education as a photographer. Upon his return, he begins to perceive his city with renewed eyes and establishes contact with street circus artists in his neighborhood, near Parque Rodó in Montevideo.

His work as a circus photographer in Uruguay has led Pérez Sacco to be the official photographer of international festivals in different countries, such as the Circus Festival of Oaxaca and Mazunte, Mexico or Circuba in Havana, Cuba on its 50th anniversary.
