The city of Madrid will be transformed these days into a large exhibitions room of contemporary art with more than 8,000 square meters belonging to the 45 galleries that are part of Arte_Madrid. This appointment will start at the begining of the cultural year.
During this weekend the art galleries will extend their visiting hours and will schedule special activities for free. Meanwhile, the great cultural institutions (Reina Sofia Museum, Thyssen Museum, Centro Dos de Mayo, ...), and ARCOmadrid will develop an extensive program of activities with the aim of bringing closer the new creations to the public.
Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015 will allow a tour through all the disciplines such as painting, photography, sculpture, ... without leaving out the international contemporary art, which will also have a place in the halls of this great "museum".
ARCO Gallerywalk, organized in collaboration with the Madrid fair, will run parallel to Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015, organizing free tours guided by experts, which will allow visitors to visit the galleries and discover its artists, from the hand of professionals of the art world.
This great festival of contemporary art is organized by the association of galleries Arte_Madrid, which is currently formed by 45 members. These galleries regularly take part in the most prestigious international trade fairs like Art Basel, Frieze, The Armory Show, FIAC, Artissima Torino, ArtBo, SP Arte... There they act as ambassadors of Spanish art in the international art scene.

Thursday 10 of September.- from 17h to 22h, collective opening of the 45 galleries.
Friday 11 of September.- Special schedule of the galleries and paralel activities at the main art institutions of Madrid (Museo Reina Sofía, Museo Thyssen, Centro Dos de Mayo,…).
Saturday 12 of September.- from 11h to 15h, “Galleries' Brunch” and paralel activities at the main art institutions (Museo Reina Sofía, Museo Thyssen, Centro Dos de Mayo,…).
All activities are free and open to all publics.
