The curtain rises again to Escena Círculo, the label that houses the theater program the Círculo de Bellas Artes. This installment comes within the scope of a pioneering and innovative drama, including works by two authors to understanding the contemporary theater: Antonio Buero Vallejo and David Mamet.
Antonio Buero Vallejo addressed in this paper various events in Spanish history as a means of establishing relationships with his time. The Sleep of Reason is a historical drama that explores the one hand, the dual ideological vision of Spain, on the other, the fear that grips at a certain time of Francisco de Goya, resulted in a series of personal conflicts, social, political and metaphysical.
Synopsis
The action takes place in the last weeks of Goya in Madrid residence, just before being exiled to France and set your home in Bordeaux. These are dark times for the painter: old and pessimistic, is haunted by his fears, obsessions, fantasies grotesque and vital contradictions, of which escapes through the darker paint. At that time, Fernando VII haunts the supporters of the Enlightenment, those who, like him, professing a liberal ideology.
