Federico Babina describes, ARCHIMACHINE illustrations as a metaphor for how architecture acts as a fundamental mechanism in the production of the identity/culture of both a place and that place’s inhabitants: “We make our buildings and afterwards they make us.”
Federico Babina is an italian illustrator and his series ‘ARCHIMACHINE’ is a collection of 17 illustration to describes 17 countries whose gears are made and operated by architecture. Each element in the wheel is a key piece for its functioning, ‘a surrealist spaceship where the country and its symbols floating weightless… a microcosm that transports the imagination,’ says Babina.
