Yesterday, Thursday, July 14, at 8:00 pm, the ceremony for the presentation of the 2011 FAD Architecture and Interior Design Awards took place at the Plaza dels Àngels in Barcelona, in front of the FAD headquarters. The award ceremony was the start of the great Closing Party of the FADfest, the design festival organized by the FAD that, for fifteen days, has collected the prizes awarded by the FAD and its associations in the different design disciplines.

The news of these 2011 FAD awards, unfortunately, has been that the mystery about the winners yesterday before the ceremony was already broken, because what had not happened in 53 years of awards, that the winners leaked, yesterday happened. The members of the FAD were a little stunned by a situation in which the announcement had already taken place and the party lost some of its characteristic glamor. In short, "netica" things or their lack.

The jury of the 53rd edition of the FAD Awards, organized by the ARQUIN-FAD, is formed by the architect Benedetta Tagliabue (president), and the vocalists Eugeni Bach (architect), Bet Capdeferro (architect), Edgar González (architect), Daniela Hartmann (interior designer), Imma Jansana (architect), Santiago Loperena (technical architect) and José Mateus (architect).

The Jury has decided to award the following prizes:

FAD Architecture Award 2011 (ex aequo) - Hotel and Restaurant Atrio in Cáceres, by Emilio Tuñón and Luis Mansilla - Dos Casas in Santa Isabel (Lisbon), by Ricardo Bak Gordon.

Mention in Architecture 2011 - Media-tic Building (Barcelona), by Enric Ruiz Geli.

FAD Interior Design Award 2011 - Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona), by Iñaki Ábalos.

FAD Prize for City and Landscape 2011 - Parc de les Aigües de les Hortes de Vilabertran, in Figueres (Girona), Michèle Orliacq and Miquel Batlle.

FAD Prize for Ephemeral Interventions 2011 - House for a nomadic collector, by Martín Lejarraga and Ana Martínez Martínez.

The jury highlighted in the minutes that "the Iberian Peninsula is a space of very high architectural competence, which is reflected in the quantity and excellence of the selected projects, which respond to a very broad spectrum of issues, circumstances, contexts and situations "

The FAD Awards for Architecture and Interior Design have been presented this year a total of 498 works, of which 282 correspond to the category of Architecture, 74 to the Interior, 37 to the City and Landscape, 58 to the Ephemeral interventions and 47 to Thought and Criticism. The territorial scope.
