The 19th edition of PHotoEspaña provide again an important space to art galleries in Madrid, headquarters of the Off Festival, which this year will be visited until 31 exhibition proposals space. With photography and video as common denominator, 35 artists - Spaniards in their great majority- integrate the programming of this section that is aimed at the promotion and development of the photographic market.
Among them, and in a circuit ranging from deans to more recent of the capital galleries, we can enjoy the works of a variety of classic and contemporary authors, among which are Jürgen Schadeberg, Bigas Luna, Nanna Hänninen, Daniel Mayrit, Ouka Leele, Mónica Sánchez-Robles, Chloe Dewe Mathews, Abraham Calero, Gerardo Vielba, Adolfo Patiño, Cano Erhardt, Cristina de Middel, Jesús Labandeira, Christian Voigt, Tete Álvarez, Joel-Peter Witkin, Basurama, Virginia Rota, Linarejos Moreno, Boa Mistura, Juan de Sande, Valle Galera or Ignacio Evangelista, among others.

María García Yelo, director of the festival, qualifies the Off Festival as a fundamental part of PHotoEspaña since its inception.
 
"The variety and intensity of the projects, built with the effort and enthusiasm of the authors and gallery owners, is a source of surprises and stimuli that enrich and diversify programming contest".

Award and Night Off
 
In addition, as every year, PHotoEspaña recognized through the Awards Off Festival to one of the galleries after assessing the approach of the exhibition, the artistic value of the authors and the works on display, as well as the effort of the gallery to present a specific project for PHotoEspaña 2016.
 
In this edition, the jury will consist of collectors, promoters and patrons of photography Carlos Rosón, president of the RAC Foundation, Jaime Sordo, president of the Association of Private Collectors of Contemporary Art  9915 and Jimena Blázquez Abascal, director of the Foundation NMAC, Montenmedio Contemporary Art.

As part of activities PHotoEspaña and through the sponsorship of Mahou, also it held the so-called Night Off, a special evening will take place on June 28 and in which the galleries stay open at night and offer a beer to visitors .

With these two milestones completing the Off Festival, PHotoEspaña commitment to deepen their goal of developing initiatives "with which we can contribute to the dissemination and promotion of these projects, working hand in hand with the galleries," says García Yelo.
