The Design Museum in London, launched as the "Oscars of the design world" has published the list of 17 candidates for its architectural awards among which is the Spanish architect Andrés Jaque for installation "Disobedients IKEA." The London museum has announced the nominations for its annual awards recognize the top designers in seven categories: architecture, fashion, digital design, furniture, graphic design, product design and transportation.
The Designs of the Year awards, ‘The Oscars of the design world' showcases the most innovative and imaginative designs from around the world, over the past year, spanning seven categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Transport and Product. Category winners and the overall winner will be decided by a jury and announced to the public on 17 April 2013.
The Spaniard, 41, has been selected with firms such as MVRDV, Toyo Ito, Louis Kahn (his posthumous work done in NY), Renzo Piano and Farshid Moussavi, among others.
You can see nominations on display in the Designs of the Year exhibition at the museum from 20 March 2013.
