The talk will explore the ways in which a sense of collectivity is constructed through architectural form and its meaning in the increasingly homogenised cities and places of today's global age. He will explore the contemporary social, economic, political, cultural, historical mechanisms that lead towards homogenisation and heterogenisation of the built environment, and the implications for the lived environment. He will also attempt to elucidate the relationship of "design intention" to "architectural unconscious," in the homogenising processes of representations in architecture.

The lecture is the first in a six-part public lecture program bringing together nationally and internationally acclaimed thinkers in architecture and/or its related academic disciplines like urban studies, social geography, globalization, and political theory. Lecturers will reflect on the larger social, political, and economic situation that defines the context in which architects operate today.
