Out My Window is an interactive web documentary from Highrise with 49 stories from 13 cities worldwide. Visitors click on stills of a high-rise apartment in each city, where they listen to subjects describe their urban experience and the views from their windows.
The project includes a personal account of the high-rise housing project in Bijlmermeer, Amsterdam, a story featured in the exhibition Journeys: How travelling fruit, ideas and buildings rearrange our environment. The ambitious project became home to Surinamese and other immigrants, who adapted the modern building to their needs and developed informal uses for the public spaces.
