Reina Sofia Museum presents the third part of its permanent collection

The Museum's collection is structured around four areas as a function of the key moments in the history of twentieth-century art and XXI, both Spanish and international. Of these, two have already been opened to the public: the first, which is displayed on the Sabatini second floor, which spans the decades from the twenties and thirties, and the second tranche, which was presented a year ago under the title is the War over? Art in a Divided World (1945-1968), which corresponds to the forties, fifties and sixties and you can visit it on the fourth floor.

Now, about 2,200 square meters, occupying the two exhibition spaces in the Nouvel building, presents this third area of the collection which houses some 300 works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, videos, photographs and documentary material. A substantial part of the work is novel because it includes recent acquisitions, donations and deposits not yet seen. The Museum has, in this sense, an effort to fill important gaps that exist in this part of the collection by incorporating them, necessary for their joint names.

The rooms devoted to this period will host works by authors such as Sol LeWitt, Dan Flavin, Hélio Oiticica, Luis Gordillo, Gerhard Richter, Pistoletto, Carl Andre, Hans Haacke, Eugènia Balcells, Eulalia Grau, Mario Merz, Marcel Broodthaers, Donald Judd, Moraza, Morelo, Yvonne Rainer, Buren, Jo Spence, Martha Rosler, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Carlos Alcolea, Carlos Leon, Esther Ferrer, Concha Jerez, George Brecht, Alberto Corazón, Colita, or Nacho Criado, between others.
