The Dutch hotel chain The Student Hotel, a unique hybrid that combines co-living and co-working, has just opened its first two Campus exclusively for students in the Marina and PobleSec districts in Barcelona, Spain.
Combining interior design and marking, Masquespacio has been commissioned to design these hotels for students. The program, which covers areas of play, rest and study, is differentiated by the materials and colors ibrante that the designers have chosen, to reflect an eclectic and Mediterranean style that is integrated into the lives of its students.

Description of project by Masquespacio

The Student Hotel has collaborated with the valencian creative consultancy Masquespacio for the reform and design of its two new properties.

The first of them, the Marina Campus, is located in a building with four towers of 21,000 sqm and that includes 500 rooms. The property has swimming pools, play areas, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, as well as a silent study room that stimulates connectivity and co-working, while providing ample space for learning and development.

Taking into account the international clientele and the very characteristic identity of The Student Hotel, Masquespacio has developed its design, creating a mix according to the brand image of the hotel chain, but adding a touch of the mediterranean identity through the use of materials local and an energetic color palette.

The project was designed with an eclectic style that fuses materials, colors and textures. You can recognize something of the Memphis style with a bit of vintage from the seventies and an industrial aesthetic among others. Each corner, decorative detail and visual element aims to combine perfectly with the students' lifestyle, forming part of their daily activities and being a source of inspiration for them.

Ana Hernández, creative director of Masquespacio:

"It is important to highlight how the use of color not only influences the mood of people, but can also be used as a differential element in a limited space in decorative details."

Masquespacio, an award-winning creative consultancy created in 2010 by Ana Milena Hernández Palacios and Christophe Penasse. Combining the 2 disciplines of their founders, interior design and marketing, the Spanish design agency creates custom-made branding and interior projects through a unique approach that results in fresh and innovative concepts.

Ana Milena Hernández Palacios (b. Bogotá, 1982) brings her background in interior design (trained at Valencia Barreira) to lead the creation of spaces with a strong emotional character and meticulous attention to detail. Her professional experience includes work in Spanish studios where she developed her own voice as a designer.

Christophe Penasse (b. Belgium in 1983) contrasts with Ana by contributing his marketing background: after studying marketing, he combined his studies with work at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and later decided to move to Spain to co-found Masquespacio. At the studio, she is responsible for management, communication, and commercial strategy, laying the groundwork for each project to be not only aesthetically pleasing but also effective as a brand.

Throughout its history, Masquespacio has received numerous accolades: the "Massimo Dutti New Values" award from Architectural Digest Spain (2016), the "Wave of the Future" award from Hospitality Design USA (2016), the title of "Interior Designers of the Year" from T Magazine (NYT) in 2019, and the "Young Talent of the Year" award from Elle Decoration International in 2020.

Furthermore, thanks to its strategic and emotional approach, the firm has expanded its reach internationally, developing projects in Germany, Norway, the United States, Portugal, France, Italy, and other countries, while maintaining a consistent media presence in publications specializing in design, fashion, and lifestyle.
