Through the mechanisms of vandalism, idiosyncrasy, and dilapidation, the buildings raise the possibility that architecture might transcend its practical obligations to become our most potent form of cultural expression.
The video features three projects by John Szot Studio, who designed three fictional buildings in three urban context; SoHo, Tokyo, and Detroit.
Each building represents a pathological issue that also contributes to the cultural dialogue in architecture, thus exploring the connection between virtual architecture and the physical world.
The project was featured first by MAS CONTEXT and after by METALOCUS film has been featured at public events throughout the USA. since last month. An upcoming screening is currently scheduled for November 13 at the Pinkcomma Gallery in Boston. Music by M83. John Szot is an architect and filmmaker working from Brooklyn, New York.
